PROfessional MObile DAta Service

Objective

Maintenance service engineers and also medical experts are working outside the stationary working place more and more. To organise their work and to serve end- customers and patients better, the flexible, mobile and remote working methods will be taken in use at least in three trial-sites in Europe. The mobile trials are based on 2.5G/3G network and there are different mobile terminals used for normal operations and also for emergency situations. The most advanced tools and software are used and the front organisations are going to trial and build the infrastructure for that purpose. Also new integrated service concepts will be taken in use and exploited to the organisations in different countries. The trial will be one of the most advanced Workforce trials during next years and will be continuous demonstrator of new working methods and serving systems in maintenance and medical care in Europe.

Objectives:
The service engineer terminals (2.5G/3G) are going to be trailed by ELYO in France and in Belgium first with tens of users, in order to organize the maintenance operations and customer services more effective. The service engineers can have better professional contacts to other members and also to the information of the organization. This means effectiveness. The customer is also better informed about the maintenance actions by multichannel means. Oulu university hospital (OUH) and radiologists there are using now mobile tools based on GSM. During this project OUH is going to trial general mobile terminal to medical care by using 2.5/3G networks. The software for mobile terminal is easy to take in use in small phases in different kind of organizations and professions. The usability of mobile terminals is better because of the faster connection between the network (GPRS) and mobile terminals.

Work description:
The trials in France, Belgium and Finland in ProMoDaS project are carried out by six (6) participants, which are Celesta (FIN), Oulu university hospital (FIN), Navicre (FIN), ELYO(F), Colombus(F) and Orange France (F) and Mobistar(B). The objectives are to trial mobile service engineer and physician terminals and integrate them to host systems of ELYO and Oulu university hospital. First the specifications from the user's and administrative point of view are determined. Then the design for terminals and integration to host systems are realized. After the design of both terminal software and integration, the systems shall verify an also first user demonstrations are going to be built. Then the take up actions are carried out in selected country-sites. The network (GPRS) is going to be built and tested, the reliability and response time. Also the data security belongs to network structure. The management and organization ensures that the project is proceeding according to the plan, objectives and milestones of the project. Being able to create valuable tools for professionals on the field and the begin of the roll out of the product is the key factor for CELESTA in succeeding globally in the mobile software business. For ELYO it is important to build up new maintenance concepts based on mobile technology so that they can serve their customers and consumers better and more economically. France group wants to be one of the first operators that build working and reliable GPRS networks for customers use in Europe. The system will be demonstrated in the framework of seminars, conferences and meetings.

Milestones:
The project is followed up by reports and deliverables related to work packages and the demonstrations of the results are available at regular intervals. First demonstration with user scenarios takes place at the end of month 6. The second demonstration takes place after the end of wp6 with user data of the trial. Third demonstration is during month 15 with real user environment. The systems are presented in the framework of seminars and meetings. The result is the mWorkforce tool for service engineers and for physicians.
