Interoperability Developments for Enterprise Application and Software - roadmaps

Objective

The objectives of IDEAS project is to create and to manage a Working Group to elaborate a strategic roadmap in the domain of enterprise application and software interoperability for the next ten years and to propose to EC a structure and an organisation to support the implementation of this roadmap in the sixth FP. For each of the technology areas of the interoperability study: architecture, modelling and ontology, the Working Group will provide a State of the Art and User requirements. IDEAS WG will provide a "vision" and scenarios on how the European Industry will face the challenges of interoperability. The Technology Roadmaps for the interoperability will be extracted form the gap analysis between the state of the art and the vision. Then, management tools to pilot roadmaps implementation will be defined, based on the tools proposed by EC for FP6.

Objectives:
The main objectives of IDEAS project is to create and to manage a Working Group which aims:
- at elaborating a state of the art and user requirements in the technology areas of the interoperability study: architecture, modelling and ontology;
- at defining a vision and strategic roadmaps in the domain of enterprise application and software interoperability for the next ten year;
- at proposing to the European Commission a structure and an organisation to support the implementation of these roadmaps in the sixth Framework Program;
- at defining management tools to pilot roadmaps implementation based on the tools proposed by EC for FP6;
- at disseminating the results of the project and attracting other partners.

Work description:
The structure of the project is organised in six work-packages:
WP1 : State of the art the Working Group will provide an inventory for each of the technology areas of the interoperability study: architecture, modelling and ontology. User requirements will be also collected and evaluated;
WP2 : Definition of the vision, the working group will provide a vision and some scenarios on how the European Industry will face the challenges in the domain of enterprise application and software interoperability;
WP3 : Roadmaps, a combination of a top down and a bottom up approach will be used to perform the gap analysis between the state of the art and the vision. The Technology Roadmaps for the interoperability will be extracted from the gap analysis;
WP4 : Implementation plan for roadmaps, Management tools to pilot roadmaps implementation will be defined, based on the tools proposed by CE for the sixth Framework Programme;
WP5 : Technology and taxonomy, a Glossary will be performed, dedicated to the definition of all the terms concerning the interoperability of enterprise application in order to make all the actors understand the same meaning of the words used in the studies of the Working Group. A portal will support the dissemination;
WP6 : Dissemination and exploitation, the IDEAS Working Group will disseminate the results of the project in order to inform but also to attract relevant European partners who could be interested to participate to an IP on Interoperability;
WP7 : Project management, is concerned by the management of the whole project.

Milestones:
The state of the art will be available after 2 months and user requirements after 4 months. A first version of the roadmaps will be available after 6 months; the final version will be developed after 10 months. The management tool to support its implementation will be defined in parallel of the elaboration of the roadmaps and will end also after 10 months. The glossary of terms will start at the beginning of the project and will be updated till the end. The dissemination will be performed during the entire project during the periodic technical meetings (each two months).

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
