NANOtechnology INDustry EXchanges

Objectif

This project is set to establish a solid link between the Micro-technologists of NEXUS and the European community of Nanotechnology researchers and scientists of PHANTOMS. This will be achieved through nanoINDEX. Collaborations with other European networks and European initiative will be set-up during the lifetime of this project. The project will identify the key experts and groups working in nanotechnology and bring a selected number together as a team. Meetings will be organised between nominated experts from this team and NEXUS through the User Supplier Clubs, the Roadmap and Market Analysis Task Forces and the general Membership. A series of workshops will also be organised at which the state-of-the-art will be described. The reports resulting from these meetings will be made publicly available through the NEXUS website and e-zine, the PHANTOMS newsletter and MST News.

Objectives:
To identify the key experts and groups in nanotechnology and update this every three months. To select a team of experts to disseminate the most up to date information to the NEXUS and PHANTOMS membership and feedback the needs of microtechnology users to nanotechnology providers. To report on the resulting situation to the NEXUS and PHANTOMS membership through a series of workshops, and to wider public through the NEXUS website and e-zine, the PHANTOMS newsletter and MST News.

Work description:
1 Define and describe the objectives of nanoINDEX to the NEXUS and PHANTOMS memberships;
2 Identify the basic requirements for the individuals and national and international groups likely to join nanoINDEX;
3 Identify experts and group candidates, invite key experts and organisations to work with nanoINDEX, and form the nanoINDEX Team;
4 Write a project plan and delegate specific responsibilities and tasks to the team members;
5 Publicise the Workplan within nanoINDEX and to the wider community;
6 Notify all USC co-ordinators, Task Force members and general members of the activities and workplan;
7 Ensure experts attend 7 USC meetings and 3 Task Force meetings;
8 Solicit feedback and identify specific member requirements;
9 Agree the workshop topics with the USCs/Task Forces and the NEXUS and PHANTOMS membership;
10 Co-ordinate the preparation for events through the NEXUS office;
11 Manage and chair workshops;
12 Collate information relating to nanotechnology;
13 Provide inputs to the USCs and Task Forces for their report;
14 Issue three reports;
15 Nominate the nanoINDEX project manager (and technical associate if required);
16 Agree the working arrangements with the NEXUS Office;
17 Provide timely inputs to the NEXUS and PHANTOMS outputs (newsletter, e-zine, mst-NEWS) and contribute to the NEXUS monthly reports on progress;
18 Reimbursement of active nanoINDEX members (in accordance with EC rules);
19 Prepare for and attend the EC reviews
20 Produce reports and cost statements to the EC.

Milestones:
A team of key national and international nanotechnology experts acting to an agreed project plan, disseminating the most up to date nanotechnology information to NEXUS and PHANTOMS members and receiving feedback. Preparation of dissemination material suitable for incorporation in NEXUS USC reports, the NEXUS website and e-zine, the PHANTOMS newsletter and MST News. Delivery of the project objectives and deliverables on time and to budget.

Programme(s)
