Deliverables
The Cost-Worth is an integrated, application-oriented and practicable Toolbox of methodologies including set of methods and tools, which combines a coaching oriented support scheme and component based business re-engineering approach to support manufacturing SMEs in different regions and sectors for all up-coming improvement aspects in a company and in all phases of an improvement process, and specifically in the introduction of different IMSS in a stepwise and an unique way.
Essential features
The integrated approach followed to support manufacturing SMEs in the overall innovative improvement process covers all stages:
(1) analysis and concept phase starting from the identification of the weak points in the company which have to be improved by the new technology and new organisational structures,
(2) specification & selection phase and
(3) the implementation phase covering introduction and utilisation of the improvement actions.
The integrated COST-WORTH method and toolbox developed is based on a coaching approach and focus upon the effective implementation of organisational improvements and IMSS in reference to a component based business re-engineering concept.
The methodology satisfies next requirements from SMEs:
(1) cost and time efficient procedures,
(2) assurance of the achievement of the short- and long-term business objectives of the SMEs,
(3) identification of simple, robust and efficient solutions adequate to the needs of SMEs,
(4) establishment of an innovation culture in the whole company,
(5) easy to learn by the employees in the company in order to enhance the individuals and companies to learn and to adapt to permanent changes; the objective is to enable SMEs to run integrated improvement processes on their own by up to 80-100% without the explicit need of any external consultancy support,
(6) traceability of the solutions and approaches for all participants in the improvement process in order to serve as efficient decision tools at different levels of the company,
(7) reproducibility of the procedure,
(8) an effective combination of organisational, technological and knowledge aspects addressed in the scope of the ICT incorporation, as a part of the overall improvement process.
Besides the development of the toolbox as a stand-alone product, RTD partners are going to reach benefits from the service provision based on the knowledge developed within the frame of the project.
The experiences reached from the participation in the project, backed up by the use of the methodology implemented, are going to be used for the service provision in the local market.
It is estimated to get the following benefits:
- Direct, through a reduction in efforts/costs for the introduction of the new technology and new services by a minimum of 40% (this will reduce the implementation costs, implying an increase of economic merge); and a reduction of risks by at least 80% (this will increase the reliability of the service provided).
- Indirect, the use of quoted toolbox of methodologies, for the own services provision will become an important business line in each RTD participant activity. This business action line in some cases will become a reinforcement of business lines, which will imply its corresponding reallocation of staff, and increase of firms' crew.
