Development of an energy management system for hotels with standard sensor/actuator components and the european installation bus

Objective

Today the energy management of multifunctional buildings like Hotels consists o f island solutions Typical these are various centralized systems for management of heating, electricity, room access control, fire protection, time management , house breaking with individual wiring. The objective of: this project is the development of general demonstrator for an energy management system with standa rd sensor/actuator components and the European Installation Bus (EIB) for heati ng, lightning window status, air conditioning, guest presence detection and an interface to the Hotel managemen systems. The information available in the Hote l/Room management system will be used for ar effective energy management. It is expected to reduce total energy costs by 20 %. Installation cost' will be redu ced because of the integration and multifunctional use of sensors and actuators for systems like access control, fire protection, Single room energy managemen t, break in protectior and hotel visualization and communication only by the EI B. After an analysis of hotel operations and the building automation a demon strator will be defined developed and installed in a suitable hotel. Results wi ll be evaluated and disseminated by, exploitation workshops. The project has been prepared by means of an exploratory award under the Joule programme, area 2.1 Rational use of energy in buildings . Five SMEs from the industrial secto r building automation one manufacturer of EIB components and three R&D performe rs form the consortium. The demonstrator enables the partners to show the advan tages of the European Installation Bus technology to other interested hotels, d evelop it into a commercial product after the end of the project and to strengt hen the competitiveness of EIB techmology compared to other systems.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
