Objetivo
The purpose of the project is to design state of the art solar systems for incorporation in existing building shells. The solar systems, both active and passive, will use daylight to heat and cool buildings and provide drinking water from the Tagus.
The massive existing building shell is used as thermal mass in combination with a large scale heat exchanger and an artificial graduated aquifer which is connected to the channel of the River Tagus.
The south facade will be designed as a daylight/passive gain guidance system as well as PV-Collector and additional insulation at night.
PV electricity will feed the necessary pumps for the water-based heating/cooling system, ventilators, BMSSystem and lighting. In addition, the river water will be purified for drinking water and used for drinking,
irrigation and to clean solar cells (existing water is too dirty).
In case of surplus PV electricity, purified water will be stored and used for the adjacent 1 MW PV plant.
