Developement for low-cost 60 m diameter carbon fibre technology rotor for the 1 Mw turbine TACKE WINDTECHNICK "TW 1000"

Objetivo

DEVELOPMENT OF A LOW COST 60m DIAMETER CARBON FIBER TECHNOLOGY ROTOR FOR THE 1 MW TURBINE TACKE WINDTECHNIK "TW 1000"

The primary objective of the proposed research is the development and the manufacturing of a carbon fiber rotor with 60 m diameter for the 1MW wind turbine TACKE WINDTECHNIK "TW 1000". The rotor will be produced in a seamless block using new techniques under hydraulic pressure. Its manufacturing process will involve CNC foam cutting and impregnation machines. It can be expected, that the manufacturing time for a serial blade following the prototype is significantly reduced in comparison to conventional fabrication due to high level automization and less material used.
The project is expected to show that the production cost of a highest performance rotor for a 1 MW machine using the carbon fiber technology can be as cost efficient -if not cheaper- as conventional GRP/GRE (Glassfiber einforced Polyester/Glassfiber reinforced epoxy) technologies. A prototype rotor will be manufactured at the works of ATOUT VENT S.A. Mimet, France, wich will then be installed on the "TW 1000".
The research will be conducted so as to design a rotor for a specified windturbine. The rotor which is proposed here will be built for the 1 MW machine TACKE WINDTECHNIK "TW 1000".

In the context of the project, after design and load calculation, a graphite fiber rotor will be manufactured.
