Exploitable results

The realisation of larger wind turbines demands new materials and constructiontechniques. This project aimed to demonstrate the use of carbon fibre, as analternative to conventional GRP/GRE (glass reinforced polyester/glass reinforcedepoxy), for the cost-effective production of a high performance turbine rotor. Aprototype rotor was planned for the 1 MW machine TW1000, manufactured by TackeWindtechnik.
