Joint research programme on the use of daylight and natural ventilation in buildings

Objective

The objective of the research is to find innovative and useful solutions for the control and use of daylight and natural ventilation in buildings by developing a pilot project selected for its suitability for investigation of the research topic.
All studies will regard the building skin, as the essential element in controlling light and energy flows, and more especially sheltering systems. The results of the studies will be summarized in a final report (including detailed drawings, results of test analysis and cost estimates).

Three stages are planned in carrying out the scintific investigations and research:
1. Preliminary phase: Various alternative solutions will be explored and compared. Computer calculations and computer simulations may support the design early development.

2. Development phase: one of the basic solutions previously explored will be developed at this stage of the project, models for wind tunnel tests and/or sky simulator tests may be made.

3. Fianl phase: Construction details will be studied with the support of mock-ups (scale of 1:1).

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
