Objective
The aim of the project is to develop a decentralised industrial technology to resolve the problem of outdoor used tyre stockpiles. A technology will be used to facilitate their conversion into consumer products, thus contributing to the sustained development of the production sectors in the region.
The project will develop a prototype of a facility for the mechanical separation of used tyre components. The following prototypes will use this facility:
- Prototype for rubber pulverization for the conversion of cut rubber into powder and granules of the required size.
- Prototype for use as noise barriers.
- Prototype for use as public fixtures.
- Prototype for conversion into tool handles. The prototype is aimed at producing handles for traditional products in the knife industry and the manufacture of seatings for grindstones used in the traditional grinding and polishing processes of this industry.
- Prototype for footware supplies.
The study will also carry out a study of emissions and control of heavy metals and other pollutants. The foremost objective of this task is to guarantee that none of the activities undertaken in the project will produce uncontrolled emisions of pollutants. Each task will therefore be subjected to an in-depth analysis.
As a further step, if pollutants are detected, the project also envisages the design and convalidation of a methodology that will permit their control at the pilot plant.
