Objective
MATUSSIERE ET FOREST tried to find a new source of waste paper, especially mixed waste paper which can be found all around Europe. Studies on mixed paper deinking showed the effect of ozone in the whitening of the fibres. The process follows many stages due to the ozone operating conditions :
- preliminary deinking step waste paper,
- acidification of the solution to make ozone efficient,
- ozonification of the solution after concentration of the waste papers mix,
- 2 stages of paper bleaching using hydogen peroxide,
- last deinking step to eliminate residual ink particles.
The aim of the project is to recycle mixed waste papers, which are difficult to be recycled with the existing processes. It will allow : to decrease the cost of paper recycling and to increase the paper ratio which can be recycled.
It is currentky difficult to obtain a good quality paper from deinked pulp using classical process except if there is a selection of the whitest papers in the wastes or with a lot of deinking stages in the recycling process. The existing process meets two major difficulties :
- The quality of waste paper decreases,
- A lot of new end users are entering the market and it is difficult to find waste papers ready to be recycled.
