TO FIND OUT WHICH SPECIES, PROVENANCES, ECOTYPES ARE BEST SUITED TO THE ECOLOGICAL CONDITIONS OF MEDITERRANEAN AREAS.
RESEARCH WORK WILL BE CONCENTRATED ON:
- BIOTECHNICAL ANALYSIS (TERPENNES, ISOENZYMES) OF SPECIES PROVENANCES AND ECOTYPES;
- STUDIES OF THE GROWTH PHYSIOLOGY IN THE NURSERY WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO THERMIC AND PHOTOPERIODIC BEHAVIOUR;
- PHENOTYPIC SELECTION OF NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL STANDS OF DIFFERENT SPECIES AND ESTABLISHMENT OF SEED ORCHARDS POSSIBLE ARTIFICIAL HYBRADISATION IN ORDER TO STRENGHTEN DROUGHT RESISTANCE.
