Objective
TO ACHIEVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE STRUCTURE, CHEMISTRY AND PROPERTIES OF CORK AND TO COMBINE PHYSICAL MODELLING AND EXPERIMENTAL CHARACTERIZARION TO GUIDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF NEW CORK-BASED PRODUCTS WITH NEW OR IMPROVED PROPERTIES.
THE RESEARCH WORK WILL BE DIVIDED AS FOLLOWS:
- PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF CORK AND MODIFIED CORKS; PRODUCTION OF TEST SAMPLES OF NEW CORK BASED MATERIALS.
- CHEMISTRY OF CORK AND MODIFIED CORKS; STUDY OF THE EFFECT OF WATER AND TEMPERATURE ON THE STRUCTURE AND CHEMISTRY OF CORK; APPLICATION TO THE INDUSTRIAL PROCESSING:
- MODELLING OF PROPERTIES FOR CORK AND CORK COMPOSITES; CHARACTERIZATION OF CORK-BASED PRODUCTS.
