REALISATION OF AN EXPERT SOFTWARE PROTOTYPE ON A SMALL COMPUTER FOR THE OPTIMIZATION OF SMALL SCALE MINING.

Objetivo

THE ECONOMIC BENEFIT DERIVED FROM THIS STUDY ARE :

- COMPUTERIZATION OF MINING DATAS ON MICRO-COMPUTER.
- OPTIMIZATION OF MINING PROCESS WITH AN EXPERT SOFTWARE.
- IMPROVEMENT OF MANAGER ASSISTANCE.
- ACQUISITION OF A BETTER KNOW-HOW IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.
- LARGE SCALE MARKETING FOR THE DEVELOPPED SYSTEM.
It has been difficult to achieve a universal software system suitable for all small mines. The main aim has been to provide analytical methodology to small mine operators, in order to assess current situations and improve their future operations.
A prototype was made available on 07/07/92
The operating environment is as follows :
Operating system: MS-DOS;\Hardware: IBM personal computer (PC)

This project has been developed with the aim of finding a soultion to the technical problem related to a small scale mining. This work must provide technical assistance to the engineer and reduce the time required to carry out the various tasks which must be performed regularly. The project was divided into 2 sections, namely: a general mining section, which corresponds mainly in the identification of a target which in turn determines the software basis and allows further development of a prototype from a model and a computer section which consists of creating the data and realization of the prototype itself.
The created software is a prototype based on the Cruz mine model but has the introduction of the maximum number of variables. In this way, the software uses different and independent modules which can be easily modified individually. The multiplicity of independent modules implies the use of intermediate files which slow down the procedure, and increase the execution time. This modular system drives the software slowly, but must allow for changing certain parts without modification of the structure. This can be the case of the parts dedicated to the calculation of reserves, but also and more importantly of the rules of the expert system.
THIS PROJECT WILL AIM TO DEVELOP A PROTOTYPE OF AN EXPERT SOFTWARE. IT IS DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS :

1. COLLECTING DATA CONCERNING :

- GEOLOGY OF THE SURROUNDINGS AND THE MINE ITSELF.
- EXPLOITATION
- ORE DRESSING
- OPERATION COST (I.E. :MATERIALS, MAN-POWER, VALUE OF ORE, EXPENSIVES..)

2. A) ESTABLISHING DATA BANK
B) REALISING THE SOFTWARE ON EXPLOITATION CHART (SPANISH MINE CASE)
C) REALISING THE SOFTWARE ON EXPLORATION CHART
D)DEVELOPMENT OF A SYSTEM INTEGRATING THE MINING DATA AND MINING PROCESS WITH AN EXPERT SOFTWARE.
