Exploitable results

The synthetic methodology affording the anti-inflammatory compounds can be used for the preparation of many analogues, including the naturally occurring, anti-inflammatory compounds. The compounds prepared in such a way could be exploited by pharmaceutical industries. The compounds have a mechanism of action which is different from that of the majority of the currently exploited anti-inflammatory compounds. The latter in fact inhibit the arachidonic acid cascade, while the former act at a previous level by inhibition of the enzyme phospholipase A, which is responsible of the release of arachidonic acid from tile lysophospholipids.
