Exploitable results
DINOCAT demonstrator provides an easy access to geographically distributed and heterogeneous oceanographic databases. Using a unique web interface, the user can query up to 3 databases covering oceanographic datasets. The queries run against the local databases involve specific search criteria such as campaign information and geographic coordinates. The end user does not need to know the structure of the local databases as the guidance catalogue helps to build a generic query that is then transformed to a local query compliant with each of the local databases. No changes have been done on the NODCs databases and the DINOCAT demonstrator is an intelligent layer that submits queries to the original databases.
