Objective
The objective of this project is to improve sampling or measuring devices for atmospheric pollution assessment. As an example, the measurements made for the dosimetry of workers exposed to natural radioactivity in underground mines and in their environment has actually a mean overall uncertainty of about 25%, of which about 20% is mainly due to the lack of a good sampling flow rate measurement.
The detailed aim the project is to construct an instrument for the measurement of low flow rates of gases in the range of 0 to 500 l/h, which can be included in individual portable dosimeters. This instrument will use a sensor based on the Seebeck effect, the air flow velocity being determined by measuring the temperature difference between the sensor chip and the integrated heater.
