MECHANIZATION OF THINNINGS ON HIGH GRADIENT OR SWAMPY TERRAINS AND ON PARCELLED PROPERTIES

Objective

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE RESEARCH IS TO DESIGN A MACHINE IN ORDER TO HARVEST DERELICT WOODS AND IMPROVE THE STANDING TREES ON VERY DIFFICULT TERRAINS AND TO KEEP THE MANPOWER IN POOR COUNTRIES.

DESCRIPTION AND SCHEDULE OF THE RESEARCH ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1. ANALYZING HARVESTING CONDITIONS ON HIGH GRADIENT OR SWAMPY TERRAINS WITH CONSIDERATIONS OF STANDING TREES, CLIMATE, SOCIOLOGY AND ECONOMY OF THE COUNTRIES CONCERNED. RESULTS OF THIS ANALYSIS SHOULD GIVE THE NEW MACHINE'S SPECIFICATIONS.

2. DESIGN OF THE MACHINE: MAIN TECHNICAL DATA:
- WIDTH ABOUT 1,5M, LENGTH : 3 TO 3,5 M
- RATIO POWER/WEIGHT 15KW/T,
- HIGH STABILITY AND LOW GROUND PRESSURE,
- HYDROSTATIC TRANSMISSION WHICH GIVES HIGH MOBILITY ON STEEP SLOPES,
- FLEXIBLE TRACKS SYSTEM, AS ON TANKS, AND DIFFERENT FROM THE RIGID SYSTEM OF CONVENTIONAL TRACKED TRACTORS - RUBBER TRACKS WILL BE TESTED,
- SAFETY CAB,
- REVERSIBLE DRIVER'S SEAT,
- 3 POINT LINKAGE,
- POSSIBILITY TO WORK WITH THE FOLLOWING EQUIPMENT:
. FELLING HEAD,
. DEBRANCHING AND BUCKING HEAD,
. WINCH AND GRAPPLE,
. TRAILER,
. BRUSH-CUTTING HEAD,
. SNOW-PLOUGH,
. RAKE,
. PLANTING-MACHINE (TRAILED),
. FERTILIZER-SPREADER,
. BACK HOE,
. MOBILE CHIPPER.

3. SEARCH FOR COMPONENTS AT CEE MANUFACTURERS, (IF POSSIBLE) ACCORDING TO THEIR RELIABILITY AND COST.

4. BUILDING A PROTOTYPE, CHECKING IT ON FEASIBILITY TRIALS AND STUDYING THE WELL-KNOWN EQUIPMENT'S ADAPTABILITY OR, IF THIS EQUIPMENT IS UNOPTAINABLE, DESIGNING NEW EQUIPMENT.

5. UNDERTAKING METHODICAL ENDURANCE TESTS, FIRST WITHOUT AND THEN WITH EQUIPMENT.

6. AFTER PROBABLE MODIFICATIONS, ESTIMATING PRODUCTIVITY AND COSTS.

7. WRITING THE SPECIFICATIONS AND BUILDING THE FIRST COMMERCIAL MACHINE.

8. UNDERTAKING METHODICAL ENDURANCE TESTS TO MEASURE PRODUCTIVITY AND COSTS.

9. ON THE BASIS OF THE COLLECTED OBSERVATIONS (POINTS 5,6 AND 8) REALIZE A FIRST APPROACH ON USABLE PROCESSES AND SYSTEMS, AND THEIR IMPACT FROM A SOCIO-ECONOMIC POINT OF VIEW.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
