Objective
THE OBJECTIVE OF RESEARCH IS THE DEVELOPMENT OF CORRUGATED PACKAGING IN USES WHERE MECHANICAL OR CLIMATOLOGICAL STRAINS DO NOT PRESENTLY ALLOW THE USE OF THIS MATERIAL, AND
- DEVELOPMENT OF A TREATMENT OF CORRUGATED BOARD ALLOWING, WITH EQUAL MECHANICAL CHARACTERISTICS, FIBRE WEIGHT REDUCTION.
BEGHIN-SAY IS WORKING ON A NEW PROCESS OF IMPREGNATION OF CORRUGATED BOARD BY TOTAL DIPPING IN A SOLUTION OF RESIN IN AN ORGANIC SOLVENT. THE SOLVENT IS RECYCLED. THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SEMI-INDUSTRIAL PROTOTYPE IS PRESENTLY PLANNED.
THE PROJECT IS CENTERED ON THREE MAIN POINTS :
- IMPROVEMENT OF THE PROCESS, LABORATORY PILOT AND SEMI-INDUSTRIAL PROTOTYPE.
- IMPROVEMENT OF THE IMPREGNATED CORRUGATED BOARD BY SELECTION OF THE PAPER COMPONENTS GIVING THE BEST YIELD.
- IMPROVEMENT OF THE TREATMENT BY ADDITION OF SPECIFIC ADDITIVES COMPLETING THE MECHANICAL EFFECT OF IMPREGNATION BY PHYSICO-CHEMICAL OR BIOLOGICAL EFFECTS.
