Objective
THE OVERALL AIM OF THE PROJECT IS TO UPGRADE THE USE OF SMALL DIAMETER (140-200 MM) LOGS FROM EUROPEAN FORESTS.
THE MAIN ACTIVITIES ARE:
(A) PHASE I
INVESTIGATIONS REGARDING CONVERTING TIMBER FROM SMALL DIAMETER LOGS INTO HIGH GRADE LAMINATED PRODUCTS. THE SCOPE OF THE INVESTIGATIONS INVOLVES STUDIES ON THE DIFFERENT FORMS OF CONSTRUCTION OF LAMINATED PRODUCTS USING THIN (8 MM) VENEERS.
(B) PHASE II
INVESTIGATIONS, COVERING LOG GEOMETRY, DRYING, GRADING, STORAGE/PACKAGING, OF A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE OF SAWN TIMBER FROM LOGS (140-200 MM ).
