Objective
THE AIM OF THIS RESEARCH IS TO TRY INTEGRAL (I.E. ACTING AT THE SAME TIME AGAINST BIOLOGICAL DECAY, DIMENSIONAL VARIATIONS, AND FIRE) TREATMENTS, AND TO EVALUATE THEIR GLOBAL END EFFECT.
IT WILL BE ESPECIALLY INVESTIGATED WHETHER THE WOOD CAN BE TREATED AT THE SAME TIME AGAINST DECAY, HUMIDITY INDUCED SHRINKAGE AND SWELLING, AND FIRE,AND WHETHER , AND HOW MUCH, THESE THREE TYPES OF TREATMENT ARE COMPATIBLE OR INTERFERE WITH ONE ANOTHER.
THE RESEARCH WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING PHASES:
A) PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION ON THE PRINCIPAL CAUSES OF DECAY AND DAMAGE OF DIFFERENT WOOD SPECIES, WITH SPECIAL REGARD TO SOME SPECIES SO FAR SCARCELY USED AND/OR SO FAR INTENDED FOR DIFFERENT END USES, AND ON THE AVAILABILITY OF SOME SUBSTITUTE IMPORT SPECIES.
B) INVESTIGATION ON THE MOST USUAL TREATMENT. COMPARATIVE LABORATORY TESTS OF THE TREATMENTS APPLIED TO THE AFORESAID SPECIES AND PRODUCTS, ACCORDING TO STANDARD PROCEDURES.
C)TRIALS OF AT LEAST TWO INTEGRATED TREATMENTS AND LABORATORY COMPARATIVE REPLICATIONS IN THE CONDITIONS CLOSEST TO THE ACTUAL UTILISATION.
D)DATA COLLECTION AND PROCESSING AND ASSESSMENT OF THE POSSIBILITY OF RESULTS TRANSFER.
