DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF GASGEOCHEMICAL EXPLORATION METHODS

Objective

TO DETECT DEEP SULPHIDE DEPOSITS USING GASGEOCHEMICAL METHODS. GASGEOCHEMICAL METHODS FOR THE EXPLORATION OF DEEP SEATED ORE DEPOSITS HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED BY BRG, TOGETHER WITH BRGM, UNDER THE PRIMARY RAW MATERIALS PROGRAMME, 1978-1981. THIS COOPERATION IS TO BE INTENSIFIED. THIS COLLABORATIVE PROJECT WILL BE CONTINUED IN COOPERATION WITH IGS (CONTRACT MSM 100).

COMPARISON OF DOFFERENT METHODS:
BRG : HEADSPACE ANALYSIS OF SOILSAMPLES: SULFUR GASES, HYDROCARBONS AND HG.
GAS SAMPLING IN THE FIELD: HG.

BRGM : HEADSPACE ANALYSIS OF SOIL SAMPLES: COS AND HG. GAS SAMPLING IN THE FIELD: HG, O2, CO2.

AREAS OF INVESTIGATION:
1. AREAS OF GLACIATED TERRAIN IN IRELAND (1983): THE AREA OF INVESTIGATION SHALL COMPRISE A KNOWN ORE DEPOSITS (NAVAN) AS WELL AS A PROSPECTING AREA.

2. MINERALIZATION IN THE SOUTH OF MASSIF CENTRAL (1984).

3. PROSPECTING AREA IN THE RHENOHERCYNIAN ZONE, FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY (1983): ON THE BASIS OF GAS DISTRIBUTION PATTERNS IN THE AREA OF MEGGEN, A NEW TARGET IS TO BE INVESTIGATED (GUENTEROD OR LOHRHEIM).

4. ORE ZONE IN GREECE (1984): PROSPECTING USING HG (I.G.M.E.,ATHENS) AND OTHER VOLATILES (BRG,BRGM) IN AN AREA WHICH WILL BE SELECTED.

DATA EVALUATION:

A SPECIAL SOFWARE PACKAGE FOR GASGEOCHEMICAL EXPLORATION SHALL FACILITATE THE IMPROVEMENT OF DATA GATHERING AND EVALUATION IN THE PROJECT AREAS USING A MOBILE MICROCOMPUTER SYSTEM.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
