METALLOGENESIS AND GUIDES FOR MINERAL EXPLORATION IN THE CAMBRIAN AND ORDOVICIAN OF MONTAGNE NOIRE (SW FRANCE) AND SARDINIA.

Objective

A COMPARATIVE ASSESSMENT (CONTROLS OF METALLOGENESIS, ECONO,IC POTENTIAL) OF TWO AREAS OF THE ASTURO-SARDINIAN PROVINCE, ENCOMPASSING THE CAMBRIAN SHELF AND THE ORDOVICIAN ACTIVE PALEOMARGIN.

THIS RESEARCH WILL BE CARRIED OUT JOINTLY WITH BRGM (CONTRACT MSM 130) AND ALSO IN COOPERATION WITH UNIVERSITY OF CAGLIARI (CONTRACT MSM 051). IN ITS REGIONAL APPROACH, IT AIMS AT RECONSTRUCTING THE PALEOGEOGRAPHY OF A LARGE SEGMENT OF ANCIENT EUROPEAN COAST. IT ALSO AIMS AT MODELLING THE VARIOUS TYPES OF MINERALISATION PRESENT IN SEVERAL LEVELS OF THE CAMBRIAN AND ORDOVICIAN SEQUENCE. IT WILL CONSIST OF:

1) INVESTIGATIONS ON THE LOTHOSTRATIGRAPHY AND SEDIMENTOLOGY OF DETRIAL AND CARBONATE SEDIMENTS.

AIM: - TO RECONSTRUCT ENVIRONMENTS OF DEPOSITION AND DIAGENESIS, PARTICULARLY IN THE VICINITY OF MINERALISATION.

- TO INVESTIGATION DOLOMITISATIONS IN DETAIL, PARTICULARLY WITH REGARD TO SULFIDE CONCENTRATION PROCESSES.

2) MINERALOGICAL ANALYSES, TO CHARACTERIZE MINERAL PHASES.

3) CHEMICAL ANALYSES OF MAJOR AND TRACE ELEMENTS OF ROCKS AND ORES.

4) INVESTIGATIONS ON THE ECONOMIC GEOLOGY OF MINERAL OCCURRENCES, BOTH KNOWN AND NEWLY FOUND: DATA COLLECTING, TYPOLOGY, METALLOGENESIS.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
