Objective
THE MAIN OBJECTIVE IS THE EARLY ELIMINATION OF MICROCRACKED CERAMICS ESPECIALLY AFTER DRYING AND BEFORE FIRING.
THE RESEARCH WILL FIRST OF ALL CONSIST IN DEFINING A SYSTEM FOR MEASURING THE VELOCITY OF SONIC WAVES THROUGH HOT CERAMICS (100-1400[C). THE MAIN DIFFICULTY WILL BE TO REALIZE A GOOD ACOUSTIC JUNCTION BETWEEN THE COLD EMITTING AND RECEIVING CAPS AND THE HOT CERAMICS.
THE MICRP-CRACKING INCREASE WILL THEN BE STUDIED DURING THE ELABORATION OF CERAMICS. DIFFERENT RAW MATERIALS AND TEMPERATURE RANGES WILL BE USED. IN ORDER TO MINIZE THE MICRO-CRACKING OF CERAMICS, THE CRITICAL RANGES OF TEMPERATURE WILL BE SPECIALLY STUDIED INTERPRETED.
INDUSTRILA APPLICATION OF THIS NDT METHOD WILL FINALLY BE INVESTIGATED. THE TESTS ARE ENVISAGED IN COLLABORATION WITH TWO INDUSTRIAL CORPORATIONS - "ISOLANTITE" AND "GIR-ALUMINE", 26 AVENUE DU PLESSIS, 92350 LE PLESSIS ROBINSON, FRANCE.
