Demonstration of Three Innovative Steam Boiler Parts for a Considerably Higher Electricity Recovery Rate in Waste Incineration

Objective

The main objective of the boiler design and introduction of the innovative part is to reach a standard of processing and energy recovery that is not shown yet in waste incineration practice. The project aims at a gross conversion rate of more than 34% corresponding to a net rate of over 30%. To achieve this a number of new technical developments are applied. The main focus is to maintain higher steam parameters than used in today's practice of waste combustion. Instead of the 400 degrees Celsius and 40 bar the new installation will perform at 520 degrees Celsius and 120 bar. The concept of re-superheating will be demonstrated together with improved use of heat in expanded steam. Compared to the existing technology the improvement in energy recovery rate is impressive. This means a far better waste to power ratio that will influence the CO2-balance in the future.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
