Objective
The primary objective of the project is to demonstrate that BIGCC Technology has reached industrial reliability and can therefore be scaled up and replicated internationally. This will be achieved by demonstrating conclusively that:
- short rotation forestry (SFR) can be successfully established in the EU under market conditions to produce the renewable fuel resource for power plants;
- fluidizes BED gasification of biomass followed by catalytic cracking of tars has been scaled up to industrial size operations successfully;
- The typhoon gas turbine has been successfully modified to burn low calorific value fuel gases and now commercial guarantees can be provided and the integration of the combined cycle with the gasification plant offers the possibility of CHP operation. The project also aims to demonstrate operational reliability and economic viability with very high overall efficiency and very low environmental impact.
