Wind Turbine (350 Kw) For Sites with Difficult Access

Objective

In order to broaden the market for wind power, it is proposed to develop a novel wind turbine of about 350 kW rated power, applicable for sites that are difficult to access with cranes and heavy equipment (e.g mountainous sites, swampland and small islands). In order to meet site requirements the weights and dimensions of the individual wind turbine components should be within well-defined limits and transportation and erection should be feasible without heavy equipments. Besides high reliability and easy maintenance are major design drivers. Moreover, this 350 kW turbine should be able to operate in weak grids and/or within autonomous wind diesel systems at competitive costs. The project aims at designing, engineering and building and testing such wind turbine, and -besides exploring its market potential-at carrying out a full- scale demonstration of the benefits at two different sites, one in Ireland and one in Austria.

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
