MULTIPHASE FLOWMETER

Objective

The aim of the project is to demonstrate that the flow measurement of the three phases (Oil, Water and Gas) in a multiphase conduit is possible through the use of the microwave imaging technique and ultrasonic Doppler effect. The accuracy of measurement has to reach the oil companies' requirements. This device will allow a continuous measurement of the three phases without diverting or interrupting the production.
Continuous measurement of the well stream will bring to both reservoir engineers and exploitation engineers a powerful data acquisition tool which allows them to improve reservoir management and, as a consequence, profitability of the field.
- Reengineering of the flowmeter to industrial standards and AGIP specifications to allow demonstration on TREACATE site.
- Manufacturing of several sets of microwave sensors
- Test with the IFP loop in Solaize.
- European certification
- Test of feasibility of the flowmeter on the Trecate Field
Such a tool may be instaled in the field through different scenarios :
- Onshore : attached to the wellhead or at a wellhead manifold of a remote area which does not alllow or justify the installation of a test separator (environment restriction due to the impact of such an installation on the landscape, unmanned operation required, economics...).
- Offshore topside : In replacement of test separators to reduce the volume and the weight of a topside.
- Offshore subsea : the sole current way to evaluate the well stream is to divert the production through a test separator on the host platform, this technique either interrupts the production of the surrounding wells or forces the operators to lay a test line parallel to the main production pipeline. This technique is expensive and cannot provide a continuous measurement of each well stream. Subsea flow meters would allow the operators to get a continuous flow measurement without interrupting or diverting the production. This device would tremendously improve reservoir management of subsea development, especially when subsea water injection wells are used for water drive recovery. - Well testing : multiphase flow meter would replace the mobile test separator for well testing.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

Programme(s)

Multi-annual funding programmes that define the EU’s priorities for research and innovation.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.

Funding Scheme

Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
