Objective
Project EUROSLIM I has led to the realization of a complete dedicated slimhole rig, including two dedicated heavy duty drill strings, the rig itself specifically adapted to the drill strings, a special slimhole mud system, a special slimhole monitoring system (in particular for kick control purpose).
EUROSLIM II, following EUROSLIM I mainly consisted of real scale tests realized in various geographic and geological conditions according to various drilling programmes. The objective was to demonstrate the capabilities and the limits of the slimhole equipment realized during EUROSLIM I project.
The present project is a continuation of the former projects providing
* an optimization of the drilling equipment for a more efficient drilling process
* a complete formation evaluation with
* new core barrels permitting to completely position the core barrels in the space
* a set of new wireline tools providing in particular an adequate knowledge of invasion profile, a high vertical resolution together with formation dip information even with non conductive mud.
* reliable production equipments permitting the development of marginal fields with acceptable economical conditions.
The flow monitoring system has been specified. Some logging tools have been successfully field tested : Array Induction, PhotoDensity, Shallow Focussed Electric, Dual Neutron, and Gamma Ray/Communications. The slim electric submersible pump is ready for the field test.
The project has five phases :
Phase 1 : Detailed design. All items have come out the research and development stage. So, we have to draw the workshop drawings, together with other manufacturing specifications.
Phase 2 : manufacturing/renting/purchasing. Some items will be manufactured internally. Other ones, due to the structure of the partner companies, will be subcontracted, or rent or purchased by external suppliers. Phase 3 : Assembly/Installation. After having been bench tested and approved, all separate items will be brought to the field, and assembled.
Phase 4 : Commissioning/demonstration. One test well will be drilled with the new equipment. The well site will defined according to the new slimhole equipment specifications.
Phase 5 : Evaluation. The new test will be investigated groundly, technically and economically, and reported in details.
