European workshops on RTD requirements for professional aquaculture

Objective

European aquaculture is distinguished by its diversity and geographic spread and is dominated by SME presence. An important contribution is its growth was made by European RTD and bridging the gap between research and producers has been of the core principles behind 2 European Thematic Network projects, Aquaflow and AquaTnet.

This proposal is for the development and realisation of workshops for focusing on identifying the research needs of species-specific sub-sectors of the professional. European aquacultwe sector. These workshops would also allow the dissemination of selected research topics (using Aquaflow) and encourage contact points for AquaTnet. The workshops would provide specific opportunities for assessment, by aquaculture SMEs, of their appreciation of these Networks in addition to the propositions for RTD programmes under the 6th Framework Programme.
