Objective
BASSMAP will prepare a medium density linkage and synteny map to improve the knowledge on inheritance in sea bass.
The aims to reach this goal are:
1)The breeding of haploid (mitotic), meiotic gynogenetic and F1 crosses of reference families.
2)To provide DNA from the reference families to other mapping projects in an attempt to speed up the acquisition of additional markers and genes on the map.
3)The development of a partially characterised Bacterial Artificial Chromosome library for the long-term support of mapping and comparative genomic in this species.
4)The development and anchoring of a genetic linkage map using a mixed strategy including dominant (Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphisms) and co-dominant DNA microsatellite markers.
5)Development of a synteny map on the basis of Expressed Sequence Tags for comparative mapping.
6)A pilot study in an industrial environment to draw the attention of end-users in the field of Quantitative Trait Loci.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
