Development and application of a computable model of general equilibrium to analyse the contribution of halieutic activities to regional development

Objective

The principal objective of this project is to develop new tools and Models to assess the contribution of fisheries and aquaculture activities to the development of coastal areas, and the degree of interrelationships which maritime activities maintain with components of other economic sectors in the same area. The exercise has a wider scope in that it can facilitate the decision process at the level of public policy makers and the firm. It will provide tools and models as decision-making aids (in particular with respect to decisions concerning the new objective 2 and any structural measures for the fisheries sector).

The program is organised in 6 work modules, each sanctioned by the delivery of a product marking a step in the model development to evaluate the contribution of aquaculture and fisheries to coastal area development and their interaction with other sectors of the regional economy.
