Objective
Chronic immunopathologies constitute a major class of diseases with high morbidity and mortality for the patient. TAGAPO aims to improve the current state of the art in the understanding of aetiology, pathophysiology, progress and outcome of disease by using:
1) conditional gene targeting in mice to study the impact of ablating specific cells, genes and pathways from animals developing specific immunopathologies;
2) differential gene expression profiling using DNA array technologies on important cell types to discover new genes with putative involvement in immunity and immunopathology, and
3) optimised technologies for conditional genome modification in the mouse to identify new gene function and relevance to immunity and disease. TAGAPO build up new knowledge into mechanisms of disease pathogenesis and aims to disclose new diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets for further academic, clinical and industrial exploitation.
