Objective
Support is seeked for a Syrnposium on Calciurn Binding Proteins and Calcium Functioning Health and Disease, scheduled to take place in Italy from 01/29 through 02/03 2002. It will be the XIIth in a series of symposia which have been organized indifferent countries every two years. The program has been put together by a Committee of which R. Rizzuto, T. Pozzan, and the applicant are members, and by an International Board. It will schedule 14 sessions (some in parallel),featuring 44 speakers (about half will be European). All areas of Ca2+ signalling research will be covered, from structural biology to pathology, stressing protein-linked aspects of the function of calcium. Two Round Tables, and two plenary lectures (the Ebashi^TMs lecture and an EMBO lecture) are also foreseen. About 250participants are expected, and 100-120 posters will be displayed. The majority of the participants (particularly junior people) will come from Europe.
