Objective
This AM is intended to access through conference activities the standardisation and validation of clinical flow cytrometric techniques in transplantation and transfusion, flow cross-matching, enumeration of lymphocyte subsets and assessment of their activation status and function, immunological characterisation of clonal haematological malignancies for diagnostic classification, prognostic evaluation, and monitoring of residual disease, platelet activation and analysis of platelet function. This proposal wants to furnish detailed scientific basis for the organisation of the first handbook on clinical flow cytometry that will provide the first European guide for protocols and reference standards. The proposal will be educational: providing clinical bands on tutorials. Cost. benefits and quality of life improvements will be obtained by raising validated protocols for diagnosis to clinical laboratories.
