Identification of Novel Proteins Involved in Neuronal Polarization

Objective

Carrying out this project will give me the opportunity to acquire new knowledge in Molecular Biology and Neuroscience in a high quality group with publications in the best international journals. It will also give the opportunity to learn new techniques on molecular biology, immunocyto chemistry, microscopy) from expert people working during that period at the EMBL. One of the main interests of the Cell Biology and Biophysics Program at EMBL is to understand the mechanisms that generate and maintain cellular organization. In particular, the work at Dr. Dotti's focuses in understanding polarized sorting and trafficking during neuronal development. My work will contribute, with the identification and characterization of new proteins targeted to the axonal growth cone while axon formation occurs, or involved to axonal or dendritic protein transport in fully mature neurons, to understand the mechanisms leading to morphological and functional polarization in neurons.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.

Topic(s)

Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Call for proposal

Procedure for inviting applicants to submit project proposals, with the aim of receiving EU funding.
