Time-resolved near infrared spectroscopy for non-invasive determination of blood oxygenation in brain tissue

Objective

The aim of the probed is to develop a new method for non-invasive assessment of cerebral oxygenation by the use of near-infrared pulsed laser light. The proposed technique is based on the multi-distance and multi-wavelength time-of-flight measurement and will allow for the discrimination between intra- and extra cerebral signals.
