Objective
The project aims at providing information on intellectual property rights (IPR) related to microbial genetic resources (MGRs) and at promoting European standards for accessing and exchanging MGRs as developed in the DG XII funded concerted action "MOSAICC - Micro-Organisms Sustainable use and Access regulation International Code of Conduct". A one-day workshop will be organised as satellite event of the Ninth International Congress for Culture Collections (Brisbane, 23-28 July 2000). Beforehand, a survey within the World Federation for Culture Collections (WFCC) will produce a Frequently Asked Questions list to be used to define the workshop contents, prepared and presented with experts of the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the European Culture Collections Organisation and the WFCC Patents and WFCC Biodiversity Committees. A vade-mecum on IPR related to MGRs intended to all users of MGRs will summarise the compiled information.
