Objective
Building on substantial experience of R&D management in both industry and the public sector we propose a study to assess the impact on both innovation and science of EU research funding for Food Science and Food Technology within FAIR. We shall examine the effect of funding on a range of important areas paying particular attention to commercial and academic matters. The core of the study will be two comprehensive reviews at which project coordinators will present research progress against predefined criteria. Additional meetings will be held with members of the user community and customer groups, especially from the commercial sector. Other factors that may influence the effectiveness and impact of collaborative R&D projects involving many partners will also be identified using novel methodology piloted within commercial R&D organisations.
