Consensus workshops : consumers, scientists and stakeholders from the whole food chain co-operate to identify and define consensus on key food issues, linking these with eu food policy and the european research agenda.

Objective

Consumer confidence in the food supply has been undermined. This proposal will set up THREE CONSENSUS WORKSHOPS with consumer representatives, key EU research scientists and stakeholders from the whole food chain to address issues from the consumer agenda. The objectives are to facilitate interactive dialogue, to understand different perspectives, problems and opportunities; to inform discussion and debate; to communicate, network and identify consensus for the future. Better focus for new technology and policy developments will result from this innovative approach to the lack of understanding and dialogue between consumers, scientists and stakeholders about food safety, quality, new technologies , regulatory developments , nutrition questions and food emergencies. Briefing papers, proceedings, information and policy positions will be published and web pages used to disseminate the findings extensively.
