The 4th international symposium on epidemiology and control of salmonella and other foodborne pathogens in pork

Objective

The 4^th International Symposium on Epidemiology and Control of Salmonella and other Food borne Pathogens in Pork will be held from 2^nd to 51^th of September 2001 in Leipzig, Germany. It is organised by the Institute of Food Hygiene, Universität Leipzig and an international congress committee. The Symposium will contribute to the improvement of the consumer protection in the food area. Latest developments in the field of protection against pathogens in pork will be presented (e.g. new detection methods, certification of detection methods, developments in vaccine production, experiences with Salmonella. monitoring schemes, HACCP-concepts in pre- an post harvest areas). Our aim is to offer these results and data to food agencies and the food industry (by publishing, follow-up workshops, fact sheet, web-debates) to be used as a scientific background for political decisions and to improve the pork production concerning the safety of meat and meat products.
