Objectif
There is a great demand for high quality fresh fish in Europe . Insulated boxes are essential to maintain the quality of fresh fish. As soon as fish is caught a reduction in temperature is required and a low temperature should be kept until the fish reaches the consumer. Ice is the most common chilling medium for fresh fish and to avoid a too rapid meltdown of the ice the fish and the ice are best stored in insulated boxes. No reusable insulated fish boxes have been available on the market which in some cases has resulted in poor quality of fresh fish when exposed to warm climates in non-insulated fish boxes. The objective of the project is to provide the fish industry with an improved packaging technology that will maximise quality and safety of the fish products. To design fish boxes according to the demands of the various sectors of the fishing industry, make prototypes, test in real time and compare results with current boxes and tubs. The deliverables required from the project are boxes that fulfil the modern demand for high quality fresh fish quality.
