High added value products ( marine phospholipids) for nutraceutical applications

Objective

The main objective of the project is the obtaining of marine phospholipids for nutraceutical applications from fish by-products by supercritical fluids extraction (SFE). Bovine brain GPS is a natural source of glycerophospholipids. which are enriched with docosahexanoic acid (DHA) at the sn-2 position. These glycerophospholipids are useful in the formulation of nutraceuticals for memory treatments. Due to BSE, bovine brain cannot be used as raw material for the obtaining of these compounds, so there is a need for looking alternative natural sources for animal phospholipids containing long chains PUFA (vegetable ones contains short chained). The objectives and deliverables of the project cover Quality of Life and Management of Living Resources: Key action1.1.1.5:Sustainable agriculture, fisheries and forestry. Partners participating in the project bring together different interests and skills on the same field from industries and technology centres of 4 different European countries.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)

CORDIS classifies projects with EuroSciVoc, a multilingual taxonomy of fields of science, through a semi-automatic process based on NLP techniques. See: The European Science Vocabulary.
