Improved physiological, immunological and molecular tools for the recovery and identification of emerging campylobacteriaceae in the food and water chain

Objective

This project involves leading laboratories from the EU, USA and South Africa forth isolation and immunological and molecular identification of emergingcampylobacteriaceae in-patient and animal faeces and the food and water chain. The work will involve) Sample release and resuscitation techniques for the quantitative isolation of fastidious and sub-lethally damaged species) Rapid antibody and molecular techniques for detection of Campylobacteriaceae3) Typing techniques including antibody-latex, biochemical tests and genomic) National surveys to characterise prevalence of the emerging species
