Introduction of quality index method (qim) in the european fishery chain

Objective

The objective is to introduce a sensory method (Quality Index Method) for evaluating fish freshness in the European fishery chain. Discussions will be stimulated on the benefits of using standardised methods for evaluating fish freshness to facilitate fish trade, improve quality assurance and ensure tractability of quality information. A network for partners in the fishery chain, authorities and scientists will be formed. Workshops for demonstration of QIM to the European fish sector will be organised and active dissemination of QIM knowledge at fish exhibitions and in fish trade journals. Multi-lingual sensory evaluation manual for end-users will be developed.
