European surveillance network for influenza in pigs

Objective

° Standardised and harmonised techniques/protocols for SI virus diagnosis, isolation, and basic sere typing.° Reference swine influenza viruses and reference sera.° A well documented collection of recent European, swine influenza virus fled isolates.° Standardised procedure for extensive serological typing and genetic typing by sequencing representative parts of the genes for HA and NA and of the internal genes.° A preliminary epidemiological picture of SI in Europe.° A well described data set about recent swine influenza strains in Europe accessible to formulate SI control measures or to assess zoometric risks.
