Identification of efficacious delivery systems for recombinant and nucleic acid construct vaccines (EFFICACIOUS DELIVERY)

Objetivo

Classical swine fever virus (CSFV) is a well-suited model for the evaluation of protective immunity in swine induced by virus subunits. Novel vaccines, which are investigated in this project, can be divided into two groups, 1. Viral subunit antigens generated in vitro and 2. DNA- or RNA-based delivery systems and a Para poxvirus-based expression system, producing the relevant antigens in vivo. In addition the modification of such vaccines with potent immuno-modulatorymolecules and loading of dendrite cells (DC) will be tested for improving stimulatory-stimulatory effects in swine. Since only highly efficacious vaccines are responsible for a rapid onset of protection in naive animal populations this study will focus on the immune response after primary vaccination. The results of the study will provide sufficient information to be able to identify efficient vaccine-types against CSFV as well as other emerging diseases.
