Centre of excellence in development of new therapeutics from sugars

Objective

Establishing the Centre of Excellence in Developments of New Therapeutics from Sugars (CEDNETS) at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Polish Academy of Sciences is the most appealing task. Three research groups (headed by Prof. S. Jars, J. Jurczak, M. Chmielewski) will be engaged in CEDNETS. With Prof. Jars being the coordinator. The I.O.C. PAS already has good experience in preparation of the optically pure compounds from sugars CEDNETS, being a part of this top scientific Institute, will work on further development of methodologies leading to optically pure drugs. CEDNETS will cooperate with other scientific units in Poland and abroad (especially those from the EU) and will integrate Polish researchers (especially these from CEDNETS) with the scientific community in Europe. Execution by five work packages: 1 - Workshops, 2 - Ph.D. Studies, 3 - Building a capacity of the Centre, 4 - promotion, 5 - Coordination of the Centre.
