Objective
The main goal of the Eurofung project is to design and to improve health and food related fungal production processes. Three different product categories of industrial interest are investigated
1) Heterologous proteins of medical importance (cytokines, antibodies and allergens)
2) Enzymes used in food and feed applications
3) Novel non ribosomat peptide antibiotics. These processes will be improved by solving specific problems associated with each of them and generic problems associated with fungal behaviour in fermenters. The project requires a multidisciplinary approach in which solid process engineering and advanced mathematical modelling are complemented by state of the art biochemistry and molecular genetics to construct fungal strains of high productivity.

Topic(s)
Calls for proposals are divided into topics. A topic defines a specific subject or area for which applicants can submit proposals. The description of a topic comprises its specific scope and the expected impact of the funded project.

Funding Scheme
Funding scheme (or “Type of Action”) inside a programme with common features. It specifies: the scope of what is funded; the reimbursement rate; specific evaluation criteria to qualify for funding; and the use of simplified forms of costs like lump sums.
