Therapeutic strategies for boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT)

Objective

The proposed cluster, entitled therapeutic strategies for bnct, aims to combine a basic understanding of the fundamental issues, along side the social and economic aspects of multi-national studies, and to utilise this in operating clinical trials. The overall objective is to implement bnct which is based on targeting tumour cells. Through optimisation of resources and know-how, the individual goals of each sub-project should be greatly enhanced. It will be possible to analyse some fundamental issues of the application of boron (the delivery drug) compounds to enhance the understanding of the delivered radiation dose and its effect on the targetted cells, but also allow a review of the working interaction between this wide range of participants and judge whether such a large, trans-national project, performed at a unique facility can be economical for europe.

Fields of science (EuroSciVoc)
